Companies Help Law Enforcement Agencies Trade-Up to Newer Traffic Enforcement Equipment at Little or No Cost

Over the past few weeks, a couple of companies have corresponded with me about programs they have set up to help out law enforcement agencies across the country as they face increasing budget cuts and diminshed resources.

These equipment trade-in programs allow law enforcement agencies to capitalize on some of the old, out-of-date, out-of-commission equipment that is just sitting around your departments and cluttering up shelves. Believe it or not, this old equipment is actually worth something and can be your ticket towards getting new, working equipment into the hands of your officers!

Read the information below from these two companies to find out how you can turn those old radar units and breathalyzers into new equipment to help you in your traffic safety efforts!

(Please Note: This information is provided to you as a courtesy and is in NO WAY an endorsement of these companies by the Smart, Safe & Sober Partnership or the Virginia Associaion of Chiefs of Police. Please use due diligence when researching any company's products or services. Thank you.)

Enforcement Products: "Trading Your Junk for Stuff You Can Use"

Ever seen the show “American Pickers?” If you haven’t, it is about a couple of guys who travel around buying items from people who have held on them for years. When a deal is made, the Pickers drive away with something that someone else ultimately will use, the owner gets rid of clutter and trades it out for cash.  In the purest sense of the concept, it is truly a win-win situation.  And maybe that same win-win concept can help your department.

Have your officers been begging for a new piece of equipment?  Are old or extra radar units, laser units and/or breath testers cluttering up a shelf, closet or garage space? Is your end of year left over money not quite what it has been in the past, or is next year looking a little grim? Are your people resources getting thin for traffic safety, but your traffic safety responsibilities aren't letting up?  If so, maybe we should talk.

We’ve helped other departments with thin or non-existent budgets turn their old, no-longer used or out of service radars, lasers and breath testers into equipment they need – often with no actual money changing hands. As an example, we worked with a department in Michigan on two trades – the first got them a brand new laser in exchange for a number of retired radars and lasers. The second got them a stealth radar traffic counter (mount it on a pole in a neighborhood and it gathers speed, car counts and time stamps for traffic that drives by). The Traffic Sergeant said “If it wasn’t for trading equipment with you, we couldn’t get any of this stuff.”  In another case, we got an Illinois department equipment that we typically don't sell (black box readers for crash investigation) in exchange for radar equipment they would never have used again.

Each radar, laser and PBT is worth something.  If you'd rather have equipment you can use than have clutter on the shelves, it all starts with a quick conversation about what you have and what you'd like to get.

If you’d like to talk further, please send an email to me at dave@enforcementproducts.com or call 317-254-5676. If you’d like to take a look at our traffic laser offerings, you can click here. If you’d like information on our new stealth radar traffic counter, please email me for that.

Of course, if you're hoping to star in an episode of "Hoarders", then you shouldn't do this.

Happy New Year!

All Traffic Solutions: "Receive 75-100% Trade-in credit for Speed Displays and Message Signs"

All Traffic Solutions recognizes that many departments own old equipment that due to age may need replaced. Your radar, speed, and variable message signs may not work anymore or they don’t have the latest technology. Maybe they’ve been used so much that the condition of the signs are poor or they’ve been vandalized. Or perhaps, your staff doesn’t use them because they are too heavy or cumbersome to move around in the case of a trailer. It’s also possible that you have a competitor’s product that doesn’t have all the latest technology or meet your application needs or specifications.

Due to budget cuts and shrinking resources, All Traffic Solutions also knows that departments need to find new ways to creatively manage traffic safety programs and resolve community complaints while being more efficient and effective.

With this in mind, we’ve started a program that allows law enforcement departments who currently own legacy radar speed and variable message signs to trade-in their old equipment for new signs completely enabled with the latest hardware options and web-based technology that makes it easy to remotely manage your traffic safety program.

How the All Traffic Solutions Trade-In Program Works:

  1. Simply return your sign or acceptable component (i.e.: radar antennae, circuit board or proof of proper disposal) depending on the manufacturer.
  2. Get up to 100% credit towards a trade-in of an All Traffic Solutions’ sign or up to 80% credit towards a trade-in of a manufacturers’ sign (power not included).
  3. Commit to 3 years of ATS SmartApps™ Traffic Suite.
  4. Select your new model. You may upgrade to a bigger model or integrate multiple units into one with enhanced capabilities. (Additional fees may apply.)
