Route 7 | 11 Taskforce

To: All Law Enforcement Agencies Along Routes 7 & 11
From: Sgt. Chris Rinker; New Market Police Department
The New Market Police Department, in cooperation with members of the Virginia Highway Safety Office, is planning a Click It or Ticket Enforcement Blitz for the National Click It or Ticket May Mobilization.
My goal for the 2010 Route 7|11 Taskforce is to again encompass the entire distance of Routes 7 & 11, so I respectfully request that all agencies along these routes concentrate their efforts during the “May Click It or Ticket Mobilization” — May 24 - June 6, 2010. In addition, Friday, May 28, 2010 will be the blitz target date for the entire task force and I am asking all the agencies along the two corridors to participate.
If we could flood Routes 7 & 11 with CIOT signs and high-visibility enforcement from Northern Virginia in Frederick County to Bristol, Virginia, in Washington County, I believe we would have a tremendous impact on our roads. Other regions in the state conduct these types of activities during the May CIOT with great success. I am aware some agencies have obligations with the Route 460 Blitz — there is no set period for this enforcement. I also know that each jurisdictions has a lot of obligation during this time period.
As we all know, unrestrained occupants of motor vehicles are a major factor in our highway fatalities here in Virginia and across the nation. Let us make a difference in saving lives in VA! Virginia's statewide safety belt compliance rate is currently 82.27 percent! The goal of the May 2010 Click It or Ticket Mobilization is to raise the rate to at least 83.7 percent.
If you are able to participate, please email me at cdrinker@shentel.net. The Taskforce reporting form is linked below. The reporting form can be completed after the target date, when you get a chance. If you have any question feel free to contact me. If you have already emailed me, you do not have to send me another email. I know some of you have spoken to Don Allen. If you have told Don Allen that you will participate, please send me a email letting me know that you will participate.
