To: All Law Enforcement Agencies Along Routes 7 & 11

The New Market Police Department, in cooperation with members of the Virginia Highway Safety Office, is planning a Click It or Ticket Enforcement Blitz for the National Click It or Ticket May Mobilization.
My goal for the 2009 Route 7|11 Taskforce is to encompass the entire distance of Routes 7 & 11, so I respectfully request that all agencies along these routes concentrate their efforts during the “May Click It or Ticket Mobilization” — May 18-31, 2009. In addition, Friday, May 22, 2009 will be the blitz target date for the entire task force and I am asking all the agencies along the two corridors to participate.
If we could flood Routes 7 & 11 with CIOT signs and high-visibility enforcement from Northern Virginia in Frederick County to Bristol, Virginia, in Washington County, I believe we would have a tremendous impact in getting the message across during the campaign. As we all know, unrestrained occupants of motor vehicles are a major factor in our highway fatalities here in Virginia and across the nation. Last year, 365 unrestrained drivers and occupants of motor vehicles were killed on our highways in Virginia, which accounted for 47% of all highway fatalities that occurred in 2008. Working together we can make a difference.
